Apostille for a German Notarial Power of Attorney

Send a request. For the apostille we later need the original and a signed Vollmacht for handling — we handle the apostille with the German authorities.

Which German document needs an apostille?

What is an apostille for a German notarial power of attorney?

An apostille confirms the authenticity of a German notarial power of attorney for use in countries that recognise the Hague Apostille Convention. It does not confirm that the power of attorney will have the intended legal effect abroad. We need the original notarial deed and a signed Vollmacht for handling. Send a request first; you sign the form and send the original once we take on the work.

When is an apostille for a notarial power of attorney commonly required?

A German notarial power of attorney is often needed when someone has to act under a German authority abroad, or when a German power of attorney has to be shown.

Representation before a notary or authority abroad

Property or company procedures outside Germany

Banking or financial transactions abroad

Signing contracts through an authorised representative

Showing a German authorisation to a foreign authority

Official procedures that require a notarial power of attorney

What You Should Know About This Document

This is the notarial deed, not our handling Vollmacht

The apostille is for the German notarial power of attorney you already have. Separate from that is the Vollmacht you later sign so we can handle the apostille. They are not the same document.

We do not draw up a new notarial power of attorney

Our service is the apostille process for a German notarial power of attorney you already have. We do not notarise a new power of attorney.

A pre-certification is often required

Depending on the federal state and the apostille authority, a pre-certification may be needed before the apostille. If it is required, we handle it as a separate service for 95 €.
