What does the apostille service for a birth certificate cost?

Do I need to send the original birth certificate?
Yes. We need the original document and a signed Vollmacht. You receive the form once we take on the work. The Vollmacht does not need to be notarised.
How long does the apostille process for a birth certificate take?
Once we have the original document and the signed Vollmacht, we begin handling. The authority usually completes the apostille within two to four weeks. In some cases, it may take longer. We cannot influence how long the authority takes.
Can a multilingual birth certificate also receive an apostille?
That depends on the purpose and the destination country. Select Birth Certificate in the request form and briefly describe where the document will be used. We will review your request based on what you tell us.
Do I also need a translation?
That depends on the destination country and the authority where you will submit the birth certificate. Certified translations are not included in the fixed price.
What if my birth certificate is old?
Older birth certificates are not always accepted. If a duplicate is required, we will let you know during processing. Obtaining a duplicate is available as a separate service for 145 €.
Is pre-certification required for the birth certificate?
In many cases, a German civil-status document can be apostilled directly. Depending on the federal state, the document form, or whether the authority has the necessary signature specimen on file, an additional intermediate step may be required. If pre-certification is needed, we arrange this separate service for 95 €.
Which countries require an apostille on a birth certificate?
An apostille is used in countries that recognise the Hague Apostille Convention. Whether additional requirements apply depends on the destination country and the specific procedure.
How do I send you the original document?
You can drop the original off in person at our Bonn office, send it by post or DHL, or arrange courier collection on request. We need the original document and the signed Vollmacht for the apostille.
What happens after I send a request?
After you send a request, we review it and get back to you. You receive the Vollmacht and the instructions for sending the original once we take on the work. We begin handling once we have both the original document and the signed Vollmacht.
